Gamer Art: April 2021
Check out April’s Featured Gamer Art, a monthly column of art that I’ve found found in the past few weeks. Art can include paintings, drawings, digital art, physical crafts, cosplay and more.
Unlike last month where I ended up a little short on art, this month’s Gamer Art has had an abundance. I might need to start finding a way to filter this, make a theme each month, or something. Perhaps a way for people to submit their art as opposed to just what I find. Not sure, but look for some changes to this in the coming months, maybe.
This month has The Witcher, World of Warcraft, Destiny 2, Cyberpunk 2077, Monster Hunter, Nier Automata, Pokemon, God of War, League of Legends and Assassins Creed Valhalla.
(more…)Elyon Closed Beta Soon
Kakao Games contacted me (through a mass mailing, but it sounds cooler to say it that way) and informed me that they are accepting applications for their closed beta for Elyon (formerly A:IR – Ascent Infinite Realm). You can apply at their website https://www.playkakaogames.com/. As of this writing, on the second slide there’s a button that looks like the picture above.
Once you sign up, it’ll ask you to log in or create your Kakao Games account, which you might have already if you’ve played some of their other games such as Black Desert Online. Then, there’s a short survey and it’ll tell you they’ll let you know. The beta test itself will be held from May 6th through May 10th. See below for full application and test schedule as well as a link to the Elyon beta FAQ.
(more…)Is it Pay to Win?: World of Warcraft
Welcome to ‘Is it Pay to Win’ – a column where we examine a game and decide if that game is has aspects of pay to win and to what extent. Check out Is it Pay to Win?: Defined to see how we break down the components of pay to win (p2w), such as pay for advantage, pay for convenience, and pay for cosmetics.
World of Warcraft is a game that needs no introduction, but, we’re going to do it anyway. World of Warcraft or WoW is one of the worlds preeminent MMORPGs. It has a purchase cost (buy to play), a monthly subscription (pay to play), a token that can be bought with cash and sold for in game currency, and cash shop with game services and cosmetics.
Scoring:
- Pay for Power: 3/5
- Pay for Advantage: 5/5
- Pay for Convenience: 3/5
- Pay for Cosmetics: 4/5
- Pay to Win: 3.4/5
Continue reading to see a game description and how we came up with those scores.
(more…)In Search of Fortune: Nothing New
Welcome to ‘In Search of Fortune’, a monthly series where I discuss my gold goals and in-game money making strategies.
So, I may have missed a month in there somewhere. Unfortunately, it’s because it was a slow month… months. Really, isn’t the whole Shadowlands expansion a little slow, though? For me, not terribly slow in terms of gold making, I’m still hitting almost 600k per month in profit, just, well, nothing that different from the last post. There are a couple of things, though, that I wanted to highlight. So continue reading for some interesting examples flips from my mailbox and my TSM breakdown screen for the past 3 months.
(more…)How to Complete Fragment Summon Events
Last fragment event was the first one I really noticed existing. I went for it. I failed miserably. However, I learned from it. Well, mostly I learned that I had no idea how to successfully complete one of those events, so I started doing some research. From there, I made a plan. And from that implementing that plan through this even, I discovered my limitations. This isn’t a guide for a whale or a years-in-the-game veteran. This is a guide for how to do this the first time or maybe first couple of times with 100% success. I’ll break down what stages you need to farm, how much to save up and how to prepare. TL:DR at the bottom.
(more…)Gamer Art: March 2021
Check out March’s Featured Gamer Art, a monthly column of art that I’ve found found in the past few weeks. Art can include paintings, drawings, digital art, physical crafts, cosplay and more.
So… this was kind of a weird month. Typically, as I exist online over the course of the month I save links to these pictures as a preliminary edit of this post. When I’m ready to make the post, I download the images, upload them here, add those links to these pics, etc. Well, this month, almost half of the art I had found has been removed for one reason or another. So this one is a little light, but, I guess we’ll make do. This month’s Gamer Art is mostly World of Warcraft Oriented, but we have some Pokemon art and a Resident Evil Cosplay to mix things up.
