Should You Play New World?
Amazon’s New World is an upcoming MMORPG set loosely in the colonial era with a supernatural (distinctly not high-fantasy) twist. The player shipwrecks on the mysterious island of Aeternum and discovers three (player) factions vying for survival and dominance of an uncharted island full of pirate zombies and choppable trees. The game features action combat, as is common in newer MMOs, instead of the older but still popular tab target of WoW or FF14. The game, while having a variety of types of content such as PVP, PVE and gathering, is very much not for everyone. Those expecting a WoW-clone or wanting the heavy survival or hard-core PVP elements of the early builds might be disappointed. Who then, is this game for?
(more…)Plarium Responds to Clan Quest Debacle
So… I’d like to think my post helped encourage this, but we know it was the Hell Hades-level Raid: Shadow Legends creators and the bulk reddit feedback that got this response. It is… however, interesting that they are actually responding. Less interesting is their tone. Their response, which came from the official discord, definitely has a tone implying the players just don’t understand their intentions from patch 4.50 and NOT that it was just implemented poorly… “Unfortunately, when it came to implementation, they didn’t quite enter the game and your perception exactly the way they were supposed to” they said. Our perception is the problem. Read further for their whole response and my thoughts on it.
(more…)Plarium is infuriating their Raid players… does it matter?
Raid: Shadow Legends has had a big update with their patch 4.50 (patch notes here). With it came some small balance changes (generally ignored), a change to their daily log in rewards (generally hated) and an update to the clan system which included clan quests (generally leaving players frothing at the mouth). Let’s briefly discuss the changes, player reaction, and if any of it matters to the developer, Plarium.
(more…)Gamer Art: July 2021
Check out July’s Featured Gamer Art, a monthly column of art that I’ve found found in the past few weeks. Art can include paintings, drawings, digital art, physical crafts, cosplay and more.
So… art was a little slow this month (or I was slow in finding it). The gaming community was, in a large part, focused on other bigger issues. With regards to that, I had considered leaving out a particular developer, but I don’t think it makes sense to deny the artist a spotlight, so, I’m just doing the usual. This month we have video game art from World of Warcraft, the Witcher, Bioshock, and Genshin Impact.
(more…)New World Closed Beta Keys & Info
The New World closed beta starts on 20th of this month. Fortunately, this one is not under NDA, unlike the alpha, so we’ll be able to share information, stream it, and so forth. We’ll be streaming at https://www.twitch.tv/shardentv and will have more feedback posted here during and after the test. Additionally, we have several keys to give away (given to us by Amazon as part of their content creator program). We’re going to give away a key to commenters on this post, a key on twitter, another on the stream, and maybe one more elsewhere. Continue on for when the beta starts/ends, server locations for it and how to win one of those beta keys.
(more…)Gamer Art: June 2021
Check out June’s Featured Gamer Art, a monthly column of art that I’ve found found in the past few weeks. Art can include paintings, drawings, digital art, physical crafts, cosplay and more.
Yeah, I know I’m a few days late on the posting of this… but it’s still the art that I found and collected over the course of June. This month has cosplay, drawings and digital art from Dead Space, WoW, Pokemon, Ratchet and Clank, Devil May Cry, the Witcher, and Guilty Gear.
