Achievement Unlocked – Has No Life
There comes a point where an achievement toast might start to sound a little judgmental, even condescending. Like, “Ding – You’ve clearly not been outside in a while, but grats on all those 90’s”. So, well, yesterday I finally hit 90 on the last class available, my Blood Elf Warlock. Which, is even more excessive because I have 2 level 90 druids. That makes 12 total level 90 characters. My days /played is probably pretty atrocious at this point. But what the hell, at least it’s not the Insane title, right? With some of the achievements in game that require massive amounts of play time (250k honorable kills, for instance), I wonder why there isn’t an achievement for having all classes to max level. There’s one for 5 classes. There’s one for 1 on each faction. It takes far more time to get Loremaster than to level 11 classes, so it isn’t that Blizzard is afraid of requiring that much time invested. So what gives?
Anyway, who know Blizzard’s logic for achievements. But, kidding aside, I’m actually pretty happy to be done with the leveling process. The initial gearing process is actually pretty fun because literally every drop is an upgrade and the timeless isle, while grindy if you stay there too long, has been a veritable smorgasbord of loot. Since I’ve been out there enough on other characters already, each of my recent 90’s (mage, shaman, lock) have been at least 490 item level in under 1 hour /played at level 90. Of course, in the nature of MMO’s my goal itself becomes cyclical very quickly. I wanted to get my characters max as fast as possible as I could stomach so I could start gearing them to be able to kill flex Garrosh. I want to kill flex Garrosh for the heirloom weapons. I want those heirloom weapons to make leveling in Warlords of Draenor easier. So… I’m leveling to gear up to kill a dude to get items to make leveling easier. Such logic. Wow.
Got Wrecking Ball!
Here’s a video of me getting the Wrecking Ball achievement on my 90 hunter. I cut out some of the slow parts from the battle ground and mixed it with some (hopefully legally used) music. I’ve gotten this once or twice on old characters before, but it’s still fun to see, particularly at max level. Check it out! Also, follow my youtube, cause.., why not? It doesn’t bite.
Shared Topic: Top 5 Mounts
This weeks shared topic from Blog Azeroth is on our favorite (and least favorite) mounts. The original topic post, brought to you by Azerothian Life, can be found here.
For my favorites, I decided on a pair of ground mounts and a trio of fliers. Given the diversity of flying limited areas, grounders definitely have their place. First: The Rusted Proto Drake. Now, I’m a fan of proto drakes in general, but this one has a special place for me. I was 2 achievements away (the Ulduar meta achievement) from getting this drake back in 2009. I wasn’t able to get a group to finish, though I admittedly gave up for a while), until 2013. I sat so close for 4 years. Finally getting it makes it pretty special to me.
From the Web: “Woes of Warcraft”
This song by Rogahar is actually pretty hilarious and is not getting near the attention it deserves. He’s taken the music from “Hallelujah” as it was sung by Rufus Wainwright and made it about all the troubles that plague us in WoW. Good stuff. Check it out.
My Transmog: Paladin Edition
Sometimes you’re looking for a new look for your characters and just have no luck thinking of something to wear. Well, never fear, because… well, I’m here, metaphorically speaking. I’m going through a toon by toon process of my transmog in a new weekly article. Today: The Paladin. (more…)
Shared Topic – Oaths
Apparently, I was hasty in my recent post in believing that the Blog Azeroth Shared Topics were gone. For those who don’t know, patrons of the site post ideas for the community to write about and they end up shared both on that forum and also several other blogs around the net. It’s a good way to connect with the community, get some exposure, and find new ideas to write about. This weeks topic is “What vows would your character say, intend, or break, and to what allegiance? Would it be to class/race/specialization, deity, or ruler? This is quite a challenging Blog Azeroth topic, however, I know you are all up to it because you are amazing writers.” Matty at wowsugar.blogspot.com posted the original article here. Since I have a number of characters, it was a tough choice to even start, but I decided to go for my hunter that I’ve been playing a lot recently. His oath, unfortunately, is nothing as noble as one might associate with the word… (more…)
