Weekend Update: Goblin Racial Nerf & Other 4.1 Hotfixes

The two most interesting changes recently to me are:

The ability for players to retain a second queue for a Battleground after they’ve already entered one has been removed. Previously, players were able to queue for two Battlegrounds, have one queue pop and retain their second queue while they decided if they wanted to join the one that was ready. This is no longer the case. When a Battleground queue pops players will automatically be removed from all other active queues. To queue for a different Battleground it will be necessary to finish the match and queue again. This solves a design issue in that the old system gave players an opening to abandon their teammates if things weren’t going as well as they’d hoped; and it also solves some queue system inconsistencies that were being caused as a side effect of how the old system functioned.

It will be nice to see (hopefully) fewer people disappearing in the middle of BG’s, particularly while I’m trying to kill them. Also,

The goblin racial Best Deals Anywhere should now only be applying to vendors with associated reputations. It no longer incorrectly applies to vendors with no attached reputations, nor does it apply to flight path costs. (Note: the displayed costs for flight paths require a client-side patch to update and are not currently reflecting this racial change). In addition, it is no longer possible for goblin characters exalted with their guild to receive an extra discount on top of the exalted faction discount from guild vendors.

I hear this means there is no longer a discount for the mats for the Vial of the Sands drake, someone should leave a comment if they can verify that. Death Knights also just got a bit of a frost DPS nerf, fortunately the left blood alone which is my main spec on that guy. It does make me a little sad that my warrior friend can out DPS me now. Full recently 4.1 hotfix notes after the break and a full list of all of their 4.1 hot fixes can be found on Blizzard’s site HERE.

Weekend Update: I Hate the Farson Prisoner

On the Island of Tol Barad, I’m repeatedly given a quest to rescue a prisoner from Farson Hold and escort it to safety. This druid is clearly the dumbest NPC to ever exist. It’s really no surprise that he keeps getting caught. Every couple of days I’m again asked by the area commander to go rescue him and how does he repay me – by being the most clueless druid ever to live. This bear druid (whose health doesn’t increase in bear form) was clearly carried by a more skill raid group to get all of his gear. He has roughly 190k health at level 85, non elite. This means he is decked out in (very ugly) high-end raiding gear with stamina trinkets, enchants, and gems. Seeing someone so geared, I want to think “this guy must be ‘pro'” and “clearly him getting caught was a fluke”. If I thought that though, I’d be horribly wrong. After bringing him out of the dungeon, the Farson Hold Prisoner pauses in front of the exit, the path to freedom clearly visible, then heads back inside the keep, going not one but two obviously wrong directions. Sometimes, it seems like he really has the fire in him to escape. He runs straight outside (missing his normal RP points) and then does one of two things: He comes back! OR He gets on a horse and leaves, failing to mention to the commander I helped him out. I save him and most of the time he slights me the opportunity to get some brownie points with Hellscream’s troops. Honestly, I think drugs are involved. Someone needs to give this guy an intervention and maybe he’d stop getting caught so often.

Weekend Update: It’s Over 9000!

It’s official. This blog has reached over 9000 views. Any other group might have waited until 10,000 views to care, but no, not us nerds. We know the significance of over 9000. Even blizzard acknowledged the importance with the achievement. Although faster than I expected, I saw a paladin with over 9000 gearscore. He was actually not very good. Proof again that skill > gear.

That’s really all for today. I’m just working on gearing up my warrior, leveling my shaman, and possibly a little archeology on my paladin for some nice epics (I hope).

Thanks everyone for reading this and helping me reach… over 9000.

Weekend Update: No Dailies in Hyjal

* EDIT – I’ve made a comprehensive faction guide – check it out HERE. *

Naturally the one new cataclysm reputation I really want to grind for the Belt of the Ferocious Wolf, has no dailies. So, for all those who’ve been searching for the location of the Guardians of Hyjal dailies, they don’t exist. The only way to get your rep there after you finish the quests in the zone is to do dungeons with their tabard that you can pick up at friendly. You should be revered by the time you finish the zone, so it isn’t too far to go. Next I’ll probably be after Ramkahen rep for a few things.

Wowhead of course has a nice list of the factions stuff here.

Tomorrow or the next day I should have my impressions of Uldum up here, so check back!

Weekend Update: Lake Tahoe

Take a moment and notice the subject. There isn’t a Lake Tahoe in Warcraft to my knowledge. There is, on the other hand, one on the border of California and Nevada. “Why,” you might be wondering, “is the subject about something not in WoW on a WoW blog?” The answer is simple: Because I felt like it. A more specific answer is that I was in Tahoe all weekend and didn’t really get much WoW in, playing, AH, blogging or otherwise. Thus, not much new WoW to update about.

After getting back this afternoon I’ve worked on gearing up my warrior. I got him his ilvl 264 back piece from Justice Points and his wrathful boots for Honor points. I’m not really doing PVP on him but 264 boots of any physical dps type is much better than the blue he was wearing. And I must say, I’m really, really tired of these WotLK Heroics. I absolutely cannot wait until we get new ones in Cataclysm.

Should have a real post up tomorrow. Probably some more about the Warrior.
