I don’t normally make this sort of news post, but it is important for even more people to see both the new rule, the story, and to be aware of the kind of things Blizzard will do to your account and how their GMs will behave regarding those things. It seems a World of Warcraft player had an account banned for a new rule that Blizzard hasn’t announced, posted anywhere, told anyone or otherwise informed the players about. After the break, see the entire reddit post embed along with the Wowhead link where I found this story that has additional images of the posters conversation with Blizzard GMs.

While I’m not a fan of all of the spam, the solution is making the spam against the rules, not weird backhanded bans on some other basis. Who cares if the account was made for advertising? Either the advertising is bad or it isn’t. Not okay, Blizz. Restore this account. Post your rule first, then enforce it. But more importantly, make a rule that actually targets the problem – the gold/sale spammers – not the use of an account.
Finally, Blizzard, threatening your user with more account action for asking about your ridiculous behavior is pretty detestable… You can do better than this.
